Feng Shui Date selection – does it work?
According to ancient Chinese Metaphysics each day has its special energy. To utilise the energy of the day for an occasion, is called date-selection. There are rules on date-selection depending on what event the date is selected for; business opening, launching products, moving house/office , weddings date, positioning stove, new boat/ship entering water and even haircut… Date-selection uses the energy of the day to benefit the result of an event.

Tour of Bond University Abedian School of Architecture
with Associate Professor Marja Sarvimaki,
in her own words…
I started my work as an Associate Professor at the Bond University, Abedian School of Architecture, in May 2015.
Previously I held the positions of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor as well as Chair of Undergraduate Programs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, School of Architecture. I earned my Master of Architecture and Doctor of Science (equivalent to PhD) at the Helsinki University of Technology; current Aalto University. Additionally, I pursued research studies on Japanese architecture on the Japanese Government Mombusho scholarship at the Tokyo National University of Arts and Music, and conducted post-doctoral research on Korean architecture as a Korea Foundation Fellow at the Korea University.
In addition to my dissertation thesis Structures, Symbols and Meanings: Chinese and Korean Influence on Japanese Architecture (Helsinki University of Technology, Department of Architecture, 2000/18, second edition 2002, ISBN 951-22-5013-8), my published work includes numerous articles and papers on Asia-Pacific architecture in general, and East Asian cultures in particular.
My forthcoming book, titled Case Study Strategies for Architects and Designers: Integrative Data Research Methods, is expected to be published by Routledge in 2016 (contract signed on 24th October 2014). As for research methodology, my primary paradigm is qualitative and trans-disciplinary with a focus on the perception of place/ space, phenomenological ‘thick descriptions,’ cultural impact on and indigenous values in architectural expression, as well as critical regionalist interpretations of the built environment.

Day 1 – ARCHITECTURE BUILDING TOUR
The Abedian School Building was honored with a State Award in the Public Building category at the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Queensland Awards ceremony in June 2014.
From the beginning of humanity – Architecture, along with literature, painting, and music, has been the foundation for the cultural evaluation of different races and nations.
Predominantly, the art of Architecture has played a significant role in the history of our forefathers, as they shaped their environments. We have the ability now, to look back over the centuries, and learn from this art, to create a built form which is unique in design and is sustainable for today’s society. What we leave behind today, only future generations will be the true judge about our contribution to history.

According to ancient Chinese knowledge, each day has its own special energy or Qi which is revealed through the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. To utilise the energy of the day for an occasion is called Date Selection. There are rules for this special skill, depending on what event the date is to be used for. The first three types of Date Selection Methods regarding General Purpose, Weddings and Activation of Romance will be discussed in this workshop.
Traditionally, Feng Shui masters or Chinese Astrology experts MUST learn the date selection technique. It is because date selection for an important event is a must and that is highly regarded and widely used by the Chinese. As people know more about the benefit of the date selection, more and more people, other than Chinese also like to utilise the energy from date selection.
In classical Feng Shui text stated:
“龍虎有一缺之差, 不減真龍之福, 日子有一時之錯, 則有百日之憂!”
It means: “In term of forms, the Green Dragon or White Tiger has some defects; it does not reduce the true Dragon Den’s prosperous energy. However, if the selected date is wrong, it brings in a hundred days of worry.”

Qi Men Dun Jia Feng Shui, QMDJ for Feng Shui
QMDJ Feng Shui. QMDJ is a natural when applied to Feng Shui analysis. The QMDJ chart can reveal to the Feng Shui practitioners many aspects of the Feng Shui that may or may not be visible or detectable with our instruments. The chart can quickly point us to where the problem is in the Feng Shui of a space. And more importantly, it can also help us to determine the cure or corrective actions to take in such situations. With a QMDJ Chart, one can foretell a great deal about the Feng Shui of a place without even having been there physically. QMDJ can be used to gain information about a building where there is uncertainty, such as what period a building was built and what the facing direction is.
In this seminar, you will learn the little known QMDJ Flying Pan 飞盘奇门 which is the predecessor of the Flying Star school of Feng Shui. This is an incredibly powerful tool for a Feng Shui practitioner. There is an ancient saying in China:”不通壬遁,不葬﹔ 不通遁甲,不宅。” This sentence translates into: Without the knowledge of Da Liu Ren and Qi Men Dun Jia, do not perform burial (Yin Zhai Feng Shui). Without the knowledge of Qi Men Dun Jia, do not treat houses (Yang Zhai Feng Shui). This means that it is essential for a practicing Feng Shui professional to know and use QMDJ.
